About Valerie
Valerie is a Dutch-born, self-taught artist from Tilburg (1975), known for her bold color palettes, playful energy, and an unmistakable love for pop art,
street art, and collage. Creativity has been her natural habitat since childhood, and after completing a creative education where she felt entirely at home,
she realized that making art wasn’t just something she enjoyed, it was the heartbeat of her life.
Her painting journey began with a spark: after seeing a striking artwork, and with a gentle push from a friend, she decided to create her own version.
That moment ignited a path of fearless experimentation. Without formal painting training, Valerie developed her artistic voice as an autodidact, exploring, inventing, and embracing the freedom of making without rules.
Her work blends vibrant color combinations with humor, spontaneity, and a joyful sense of rebellion. Influenced by pop culture, street art, and the layered
world of collage, Valerie creates pieces that radiate energy and invite viewers into a world where creativity is bright, bold, and delightfully unfiltered.
A signature part of her practice is her guilty pleasure: upcycling thrift store paintings. With a mischievous twist, she transforms forgotten artworks into humorous, unexpected pieces that bridge nostalgia with modern pop-culture flair. It’s her way of keeping art light, accessible, and infused with fun. Curious about these upcycled creations? Visit www.artremade.nl and explore a collection of reimagined paintings, each with its own new story.
At the core of Valerie’s work lies a mission: to bring color, joy, and a sense of uplifting lightness into people’s lives. Her art doesn’t whisper, it beams.
It celebrates positivity, embraces playfulness, and reminds viewers that creativity can be both powerful and wonderfully uncomplicated.
Valerie continues to expand her artistic universe, building a vibrant body of work that reflects her passion for color, humor, and the freedom of self expression.
